NAMMT members can take advantage off out block scheme insurance. Nowadays in this modern litigious society it is vital to have adequate insurance, whether you only treat friends or families or have a large multi-modalities clinic. Accidents can and do happen and as is the nature of accidents, no-one knows where, what or when it will happen and it could be too late once it has happened to think of insurance. In face it is a requirement of full membership of NAMMT.
We recommend a minimum of £3,000,000 for Massage Therapists and £5,000,000 for Manipulative Therapists, and have therefore arranged block insurances for Massage and Manipulative Therapists. Please contact us for more details.
Professional Associations exist primarily to care for, support and assist their members We try to be there for you if any concerns arise in your practice.
Obviously if the problem is regarding your ability to treat a certain condition we would ask you to contact you’re training school ,then if they can’t help please contact us.
We are a Professional Association and do not provide CPD (Continued Professional Development) although NAMMT does provide some seminar days. To retain membership of NAMMT it is a requirement that members undertake a minimum of 20 hours of CPD per year.
We do provide details of Training Schools that host courses and some recommended reading that can constitute CPD requirement.
Recognised by CNHC
The Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) is the government regulating body for Massage. Membership of the CNHC shows the public, that the member is a bona fide practitioner who is well qualified and insured to practice their particular therapies. It is believed that this will become a national requirement for all therapists in the future.
Most health insurance companies will require CNHC membership before paying their membership before paying their members fees. Although the CNHC annual fee is outside the fee of NAMMT being a member of NAMMT does give credence to the application, and can guarantee acceptance.
Protecting the Public
Massage in now becoming recognised by The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) as a valid form of treatment that may be used by the NHS. Now insurance companies and private health companies will be looking for well-qualified professional massage and Manipulative Therapists before they will place them on their register of approved therapists.
Just having the name of your training schools initials after your name is not enough. Being a full member and having NAMMT’s designatory letters (Mass.Th.) or (Manip.Th.) after your name shows a Professional Association has accepted you and your treatments comply with national standards.

Whether you work from home or have a clinic, being a member of the NAMMT indicate that you, as a training or qualified practitioner have relevant insurance cover. It shows you train to the national standards for your chosen modality, conducting yourself in a safe and professional manner. you are committed to continued professional development to enhance your professional portfolio.
NAMMT recommends displaying your membership certificate along with you relevant insurance details and current qualification in a visible, prominent position within your premises, to allay any fears and re-assure your clients/patients that you are a competent, professional and registered practitioner.
