Dear Members,
As we finally start to see a relaxation of rules and regulations, we can start to return to where we
were before this latest lock down.
We felt this would be a good opportunity to remind you that membership, insurance, and PPE will all
still be essential for the therapist. Make sure you continue to follow government guidance relating
to PPE, including the NHS Track and Trace system. Until we hear otherwise, this could be the way of
working for some considerable time.
Some members have asked about the timing of treatments for those people who have received their
COVID vaccination and the people who have Long Covid. The advice is the same for most
vaccinations somebody has received. At least 48 hours should lapse between the injection and any
appointment you make for them, to ensure any side effects are known. Clearly, any symptoms
would need to be clear before any treatment could be given. For Long Covid diagnosis, we would
recommend they have their GP’s permission to have any treatment, especially as blood clots are a
concern. We also recommend you have your paperwork up to date in these situations to show they
have done so. If in any doubt ask the client to seek medical advise first.
Finally, please keep up with CPD – we do still hope to arrange a CPD day and we will of course let
you know as soon we can confirm that. Informal CPD opportunities are available in many ways and a
lot of information and reading material can be counted. Personal experiences can also be used in
reflection.
Stay safe, stay vigilant and stay informed.
Best wishes,
NAMMT Committee
