COVID19 – October 2020 Update……
Dear Members,
We are all witnessing the upscale in restrictions for many regions through the Government’s Tier system. Alongside this, are the variations in what each area can or cannot continue to do in respect of businesses operating.
These are very unsettling times for us as therapists. We are continually put in with Beauty and Spa when it comes to decisions on close contact/personal care restrictions. All the Professional Associations that operate under the GCMT umbrella are working very hard as a collective, to change this at Government level. As ever, this takes time and we must battle on to make our industry recognised in its own right in any way we can.
Currently NAMMT recommends the best way to keep up to date with your area and the ever changing rules and restrictions, is to always keep checking the Government website and to then contact, regularly, your local council authority. This is because there are no hard and fast set of rules from the Government yet – they seem to be leaving it to the local areas to govern at present. Make sure you make it very clear to whoever you talk to, what your business is and your level of PPE as this can help to encourage them to allow our work to continue.
If you have fellow therapists you can get in touch with, do discuss and share any differences in restrictions and please do let us know if you are affected differently from them, as we can help to keep everybody informed of changes we may not have seen. This may also help if one therapist is told to close and another is told they can continue – and this does happen already! Be aware of different restrictions for mobile therapists and those working from inside their homes compared to those in clinic settings. Also for multiple therapist clinics compared to those working solo.
As ever, we are working really hard to keep you up to date with any changes that may affect you and as new guidelines, restrictions or information come to light, we will make sure we get this to you as quickly as possible. We are here to help and support you as much as possible.
Please keep in touch and we are here to help with queries or worries you may have – be it COVID, CPD or general questions.
Stay safe, stay positive and stay strong!
